Student Union Policies

Bicycles, Skateboards, In-line Skates, and Similar Conveyances

Other than for the accommodation of a disability, the use of any wheeled or mechanical transportation in the Ole Miss Student Union is strictly prohibited. This prohibition includes, but is not limited to, bicycles, skateboards, skates, hoverboards, scooters, and wheeled shoes.

Due to the risk of fire, no form of transportation may be plugged into an electrical outlet inside or outside of the Ole Miss Student Union to charge. Bicycle racks are provided outside of the Ole Miss Student Union to store bicycles when not in use. Bicycles are not to be left unattended or attached to the building at any time.

Pets

Pets are not allowed inside the Ole Miss Student Union. The only exception permitted is the use of properly identified service animals.

Posting of Flyers/Posters at the Ole Miss Student Union

Posting or displaying fliers, posters, handbills, advertisements, etc. inside or outside of the Student Union on any interior or exterior surface, such as columns, windows, doors, kiosks, etc., and outside designated areas is prohibited. This policy includes the use of sidewalk chalk on the building, steps, and Student Union Plaza.

Solicitors/Vendors

Solicitors are defined as individuals, companies, or groups that provide promotional or informational materials at a provided location at the Ole Miss Student Union. Vendors are classified as individuals, companies, or groups that wish to sell goods within the Student Union. Reservations are made through the Ole Miss Student Union, where a reservation agreement must be completed. All solicitations and sales must be approved by the Ole Miss Student Union and/or Contractual Services. There can be no sales, solicitations or marketing that will conflict with the exclusive sales agreement that the University has with contracted businesses and/or corporations.

Table Reservations

In order to ensure that table reservations conducted at the Student Union are in accordance with established policies and procedures, the Ole Miss Student Union retains the authorization to supervise table reservations in the Student Union. Reservations are made through the Ole Miss Student Union, where the reservation agreement must be completed. Rental is open to all registered student organizations and campus departments – there is no charge for this rental. Space for student organizations or campus departments is available on the covered Porch, in respective Union Plaza spaces, and on the covered Mall on the southeast corner of the Union from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Unaccompanied Minors

The Ole Miss Student Union serves as a center of campus life for Ole Miss students, guests, alumni, and the general public.  Although everyone is welcome, the Student Union does not have the resources to act as a safe space for unaccompanied minors. Therefore, parents or guardians are responsible for, and assume all liability for, their minor(s) in or around the Ole Miss Student Union. In addition, the Student Union reserves the right to restrict or deny access, or remove any unescorted or unsupervised minors from the facility at its discretion.
