MPower Leadership Conference
MPower is the premier leadership conference for incoming first year students at the University of Mississippi. MPower is guided by the University of Mississippi Creed and provides leadership activities and discussion that correlate to each tenant of the UM Creed. MPower prepares incoming first year students to understand the history of the University of Mississippi and to be responsible members of the University committee. For more information, email mpower@olemiss.edu.
So, what exactly does “Lead Through The Creed” mean?
During Orientation, you became familiar with the UM Creed: a statement of shared values that ties all members of the University together. We have focused each day around different tenets of the Creed, so you will walk away with a hands-on understanding of what makes the University of Mississippi such a dynamic place.

PULSE Leadership
“Preparing Undergraduate Leaders – A Student Experience”
PULSE is designed to provide practical leadership skills in an environment where students can learn, not only about themselves, but about what leadership means to them. There are, undeniably, certain sets of words that tend to accompany the concept of leading. Words like ‘ambitious,’ ‘outgoing,’ and phrases such as ‘big personality’ have signaled to many that leadership is not for everyone.
Through participation in the program, our hope is for students to realize that leadership is an expression of self and a means of serving, inspiring, and empowering others. Leadership can come from the most unexpected places or the most unlikely of people. We want our students to build their own brand of leadership and apply it throughout all areas of their life.
Students spend two days focusing on the three core values of PULSE – Collaboration, Communication, and Reflection. We believe that these three principals are key to understanding ourselves and our own personal leadership styles.
PULSE is a collaborative effort made possible by the leadership of the Student Union and the Ole Miss Women’s Council for Philanthropy.

Leadership Legacy
Leadership Legacy is a cohort-based leadership series that creates space for student leaders to make meaning of their current leadership roles and prepare for transition into the next steps of their journey. Utilizing Brené Brown’s Dare to Lead and companion materials, participants will embrace challenge, take risks, and demonstrate vulnerability as they venture into new seasons of leadership and leave a legacy in their current roles.
Leadership Legacy will meet over the course of 4 weeks in the spring semester. Each meeting will last for an hour and a half over the lunch hour. Each week will carve out a section of Dare to Lead for discussion and supplemental activities. At the final meeting, participants will receive a certificate of completion and padfolio for participating in the series.
